Decisions. Decisions.

It is with some sadness, and a bright outlook towards my future, that I have to announce, that I have decided not to open up A Good Yarn as an online store.  The move back to Halifax 2 weeks ago, was definitely the right move for me…this is where I belong.  In the weeks that I’ve been here (my first real bit of time off in over 2 years), I’ve come to the realization that owning my own business just isn’t for me.

I want to thank, from the bottom of my heart, so many people for their support and encouragement over the last few years in St. John’s.  I loved owning A Good Yarn…the time I had, and the people I met, that added to, and changed my life for the better…will never be forgotten.  I love you all.  Thank you so much for all your support and friendship.

Though the shop is now closed, I will be continuing this blog (as a personal blog), for anyone that would like to keep up with my life (and knitting, of course!!!), and the adventures of the pups and my big, orange cat, Rudy, in and around Halifax.

I wish you all the best, and of course, lots of happy knitting!

Cheers,

Jenny.

PS – Here are a few pics of our first few weeks in beautiful Nova Scotia 🙂

Enjoying a walk along the Halifax harbourfront.

The lovely Halifax harbourfront.

The yarn bombing RIGHT outside my house!

It’s in french, so (aside from the “bonjour”), I have no idea what it says 🙂

View of Halifax from the Dartmouth side.
I love it when there’s dark, stormy clouds above, and sun shining in from the side 🙂

Crystal Crescent beach…our favourite place!

Enjoying the warm sun on his sweet, little face.

Enjoying it on mine too!

  9. Well i totally get it. It is a big demand being your own boss. I live in HFX and visited your shop many times when i was in St. John’s for business. I was there the day before your sale started (to close the store) and we had been discussing (and me bitching) about the lack of a good on line store to purchase wool and you mentioned to me a great one, i think out of the US. My memory is bad; and i can’t remember what you said. Would you mind reminding me of the on line store you recommend for purchasing yarn?

  10. Good luck 🙂

  11. Jenny! I miss you!
Our new puppy ate my knitting needles and I was planning a trip to the shoppe soon to buy another set 😦 Tara stopped into work yesterday and told me you moved back to Hali. I hope all is well! We should keep in touch, as I loved you and your shoppe 🙂
    All the best,
    Samantha

  12. Hello there! After becomming inspired and wanting to learn to crochet, I was excited to come across the listing for your shop, and the classes I was looking forward to taking….Well, this excitement was short-lived when quickly learned that you have recently closed. All the best in your future endevours, looks like you had a supportive group here.
So, on with my search for a talented crochet expert who would be able to take me under their wing….Does anyong know where I would find a (very beginner) class to take?
Please feel free to email me with any advice and/or information. I would look forward to hearing frm you.

  13. Now that knitting season is upon me again, I am missing your shop. It sounds as though NS is a food fit for you. Last winter there was a special at the shop on purchasing a duo with yarn and the pattern for a pair if bed socks. I started the project but ended up putting it away when i wad half way theough one sock. Recently i was inspired to start on them, unfortunately in a move the pattern was misplaced. Does anyone still have a copy if the pattern? Thanks

    • Hi Jen,
I wrote the pattern you are looking for and I still have it. BUT I had a computer crash and I haven’t yet recovered all my files. It’s a kind of twisted story but I’ve tracked down a backup and will have those patterns back next week. E-mail me at lea_kin@yahoo.com and I will send it along when I get it.

  14. I was wondering if anyone knew Jenny’s email address. I’m an old friend that used to work with her at miller waste years ago and would like to get in contact with her. Thanks Phil

  15. Hi jenny not sure if you still check this site which I hope you do. Used to work with you at Miller Waste. Would love to catch up on old times. Hope you get this. Thanks Phil
